The practice of learning on the go as you build expertise has served me well to understand photography. I look forward to sharing more stories from when I did various events. Having the newer tools to share my thoughts means it will be easier to keep up the posting schedule several of you have asked that I keep. I am very deeply humbled and at times flattered that people love my writing. In the time of my recovery, I’ve been able to keep up with the learning curve of writing.
Had I kept to the old habit of waiting until I have something to write to search how to format it, then, I’d not be doing you a service and I’d be keeping my growth curve shallow and short. I have not mastered the new skills I have read about. But now I have the opportunity to test them and work them out. As always, I am open to any ideas and comments (shared below or any other way you can reach me).
What recovery, exactly?
During the past several weeks, several deadlines at work required a lot of written communication while I was trying to create a lot of content for the various blogs I write for. The over use of my hands have led to much discomfort. No, not carpal tunnel. And this wakeup call means I’m changing up a lot of what I do to avoid having carpal tunnel. So, more learning, more understanding, and many lifestyle changes.
Never has the word ergonomics meant so much to me. Being that before this blog I did not consider myself a writer of any kind, diving in so strongly means I have so much more to learn about the craft. Yeah, it was not smart of me to try to learn blogging while learning how to do a book, while in the middle of intense written communications at work, all while working hard to be a great dad and husband…not to mention trying to keep up with regular adult life.
What’s next?
I will continue to keep an eye on my hands and recover. I will continue to learn anyway. I will also be sure to not agree to more writing than I can fit in a given span of time. I have so many commissioned pieces that I’ve yet to write… or photograph for. Yeah, crazy, I know. But this is so much fun! I so love this.
In the coming months, I hope to develop better systems of content creation that will better serve you. Some of you have asked advice. Others have asked my thoughts about certain topics. Others have asked for pointers into their own photography skills. Those are all coming.
Until that happens, I want to thank all of those who stop and read the blog, even if it’s only for one time. Thank you (when you come back anyway to see this).
For those of you who patiently wait and keep coming back, I can’t begin to tell you how much I love you for that! You’ve kept me writing when I doubted my ability to learn this. You’ve kept me going when I questioned my story telling skills. Because of you, I now am contributing to more than this blog (yes, I’ve stopped agreeing to write to more spaces…as I need to keep the quality here improving regularly).
Where next?
Not sure where to next, but, for now, let me make sure I make this here look really good and I better understand the Markdown “shortcuts” first. Then, we’ll just play it week by week. In time, I want to create the value you deserve to read. A place to inspire through story and photography.
Enjoy the read. Enjoy your day. See you again real soon on another post.
