The Lump of Coal Hypothesis

In the reply I gave online to that person, a lump of coal has some luster to it, but not the kind that draws breath away. You can see the handiwork of it’s maker but not the shine of the maker. (Religious reference there)

In the case of a Dazzling Diamond,  it is a high value and high net worth item. A  treasure. A keepsake. Something to pass along for generations that hold lots of emotional and financial value.

A diamond is highly reflective of light. It puts on a serious show that makes the admirers feel special watching the light dance.

Abusing the imperfect analogue even more, the people who flock about diamonds aren’t your average run of the mill folks either. They tend to view themselves of higher worth than those who can’t indulge in diamonds.

I postulated the notion that this person is a diamond. Here is why. You are of much great worth that is independent of you knowing it or not. The very nature of being a human means you have a great worth. Now, understanding that varies greatly from person to person.

What’s the real difference between a Lump of Coal and a Diamond?

Pressure and heat.

Great pressure and great heat makes optimal conditions to change the carbon structure of coal into diamond. The exact science not being the focal point here.

Under a massive amount of pressure and heat, carbon gets reorganized into something different. That something is a diamond.

When life sees that you’re not aware of your truest worth and potential, it has a funny way of throwing high pressure situations your way to refine you into the diamond you should be.

  1. I love this post. It is an amazing thing to consider the contrast of what you described. Also, the way that you pointed out that either being a lump of coal or a diamond is ok! But, it is up to you which you choose!
I’m so glad to be rubbing elbows with a diamond! May you be blessed and continue to write, as it is clearly one of your gifts!

    1. Thank you so kindly. Really appreciate the lovely words:)

I recently discovered my writing gift and am working hard to cultivate it to the fullest.

I’m excited about what will be down the road.

      Stay blessed always my friend
